GRANITE - New album by La Paz

La Paz album Granite back cover

GRANITE - the finest quality Scottish Hard Rock - so what could be a more appropriate title for an album by a fine Scottish Hard Rock band?

Formed by vocalist Doogie White and guitarist Chic McSherry, La Paz played the rock clubs and venues of the UK for a number of years in the 80s and were on the cusp of a major deal when...well when things went the way they often do in the music biz.

The reformation was a long time in coming but it happened three years ago with the request of legendary Rock DJ Tom Russell for them to play at an FM Rock Radio gig in Glasgow. The old magic was still there and the outcome of that and several other gigs has resulted in GRANITE: the album that the band had always wanted to make.

The track list is a mix of old favourites and brand new songs and the running order is:

  • Too Good To Lose
  • This Boy
  • Lesson In Love
  • Amy
  • Just For Today
  • What Do You Say
  • Still In Love
  • Young & Restless
  • Shame The Devil

  •

Granite will be released on February 13th 2012 in Europe and March 6th 2012 in the USA.

You can get details of where to buy Granite on our La Paz Facebook page.

Reviews:

"In an era where the internet controls the world and music is a disposable commodity, it gladdens the heart to come across an album that harks back to more glorious days – when you could hold music in your hands and pore over the sleeve notes while you listened to a whole album"   Read more

"La Paz, headed by Doogie White is for all fans of Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake,  and Def Leppard. The album "Granite" is more than 45 minutes of music, whose roots lie in a fairly distant past, but the dynamics of playing and realization is of the present" Read more

"Doogie White & La Paz may not have conquered America but if you already like the works of Uriah Heep, Whitesnake and Def Leppard - go ahead and buy the brand new album Granite by La Paz."

"I will say with all honesty that from the time Doogie White appeared on the Rainbow album - this is definitely the best material with him behind the microphone."

The album was recorded in Scotland and mixed by the highly respected Rolf Munkes in Empire Studios, Germany.

We hope that the music will speak for itself, however the objective of the album is not to chase the glory days of youth: it's an album we are all intensely proud of and we are delighted that people will have a chance to share this part of the journey with us.

La Paz are:

  • Doogie White - Vocals
  • Chic McSherry - Guitars
  • Andy Mason - Keyboards
  • Alex Carmichael - Bass
  • Paul McManus - Drums

Doogie White is well known for his work with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jon Lord (various live concerts), Cornerstone,  Tank and Michael Schenker to name just a few whilst Paul McManus is the current drummer with GUN.

We think that when you listen to the quality of the song writing,  the enthusiasm of the band and the professionalism of the playing you will agree - this is an album worth releasing.
